16 - Bit Biodiversity

There you are, scrolling through your Twitter feed when you come across a tweet from a random environmental activist. "SINCE 1900, BIRDS, MAMMALS, REPTILES, AMPHIBIANS AND FISH DIED 72 TIMES FASTER THAN NORMAL". Most people who read this would most likely have forgotten about it in the next half-hour, while the problem continues to persist, out of sight, out of mind. Threats to biodiversity have increased extremely in the past 2 centuries, and it would make sense for it to be a big deal now. The problem exists with changes to biodiversity being quite unnoticeable, until it gets enough out of hand that our certain death is penned. This game exists to serve as a visualization and a warning to how fast changes in the Earth's delicate biological systems can affect everything around us.
